KIYESENI CHRISTMAS OUTREACH: SH Partners with Kiyeseni Foundation

Location:        Ogijo Community

Synergistic Homies is a proponent of meaningful partnerships as a tool for delivering better results. This influenced our partnership with Kiyeseni Foundation, a non-governmental organization that is child protection compliant and is aimed at increasing children’s access to quality education and advocating for their rights, on her annual community Christmas outreach in December 2019.

The 2019 edition of the Kiyeseni Christmas Outreach was tagged ‘Christmas at Ogijo’. The outreach is usually a blend of a Christmas music carol cum medical outreach to children in the community to be reached. Gifts are also shared with the children to celebrate the season in a joyful fun-filled atmosphere.

We joined the Kiyeseni Foundation volunteers in creating awareness of the time and venue of the event and coordinating the event to ensure the children were well organized and in safety as they had a wonderful Christmas experience. The children were dewormed having received consent from their parents. They were also taught simple first-aid techniques when a wound is sustained.

The collaboration was fulfilling as we felt the pulsating joy among the volunteers and children. It also served as a learning curve for us, giving us a template to model for our community outreaches in the future.
